| When I think of Kingston and The Islands, several words come to mind: Beautiful, Historic, Vibrant and Unique.
Kingston, commonly know as the Limestone City, is located where Lake Ontario meets the St. Lawrence River. The spectacular waterfront location, the multitude of public parks and gardens, the stunning architecture, and the unique surrounding islands all contribute to the historic beauty that make this region one of a kind. You need only to walk through the streets of downtown Kingston to feel history alive around you. Whether taking in the exquisite architecture, visiting Old Fort Henry and the Martello Towers or stopping to read the plaques that line the streets where our first Prime Minister, Sir John A. MacDonald once lived, the uniqueness of Canada's First Capital will be certain to enchant you. No matter the day, there is always something interesting and entertaining to do in Kingston. With three post-secondary institutions, several excellent theatres, a wide variety of community organizations, a farmer's market, world-class shops and restaurants and many national and international events such as CORK and the Busker's festival that choose to make Kingston their home, there is never a boring moment. Kingston is just large enough to create an urban atmosphere and foster excellent business opportunities but still small enough to create a small-town, close-knit community feeling. I am proud to call Kingston and The Islands my home and am thrilled to represent this extraordinary Ontario community at Queen's Park.
