McGuinty Government Invests In Upgrades For Kingston Hospitals
Funding will improve care for patients

KINGSTON – The McGuinty government is investing $536,712 in infrastructure upgrades at Kingston Hospitals announced John Gerretsen, MPP as part of Health Infrastructure Week.

“This investment in our local hospitals will go a long way to ensure that people in our community are getting the care they deserve,” Gerretsen said. “Safe and efficient hospitals ultimately help to reduce wait times and increase access to family health care.”

Today’s announcement is part of the McGuinty government’s initiative to provide funding to all Ontario hospitals for infrastructure upgrades.

The funding breakdown includes:

Kingston General Hospital $ 228, 738
Providence Care $ 163, 446
Hotel Dieu Hospital $ 144, 528

"Good patient care requires hospital facilities that are in proper working condition," said George Smitherman, Minister of Health and Long-term Care. "The investment announced today will help hospitals with needed upgrades so health care providers are able to offer quality care to Ontarians.”

These initiatives are part of the McGuinty government’s plan for innovation in public health care, building a system that delivers on three priorities – keeping Ontarians healthy, reducing wait times and providing better access to doctors and nurses.
