For Immediate Release April 30, 2008 Funding To Help Combat Elder Abuse NEWS Ontario is taking action to help ensure the safety and well-being of seniors in Kingston by investing in programs to prevent elder abuse. The Frontenac-Kingston Council on Aging is receiving $4,000 from the Ontario Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse (ONPEA) to help with:
The Ontario government recently provided $209,000 to ONPEA to support the work of community-based elder abuse networks across the province. The funding is in addition to the $1.65 million announced last year by the Ontario government to help put an end to elder abuse. These investments are part of the Ontario’s Strategy to Combat Elder Abuse, the first of its kind in Canada.
