McGUINTY GOVERNMENT IMPROVING CARE AT KINGSTON GENERAL HOSPITAL

KINGSTON – The McGuinty government is providing $16.4 Million to help Kingston General Hospital continue moving forward with its capital project, John Gerretsen, MPP for Kingston and The Islands announced today on behalf of Ontario’s Health and Long-Term Care Minister George Smitherman.

“Kingston General Hospital will now have the money to move forward faster with these capital improvements,” said Gerretsen. “Our government is making sure that Kingston area residents have the best possible access to services in state-of-the-art hospital facilities.”

This funding will help the hospital advance its project to undertake electrical and safety upgrades at the Stuart Street site. This means safety and comfort for patients and staff will be improved.

“Our government is responding to the present and future needs of all Ontarians,” Smitherman said. “The support we’re giving today will help provide the people of Kingston and the Islands with enhanced access to quality health care for many years to come.”

This investment by the Ontario Government is part of a $184-million contribution towards total capital project costs for specific hospitals. It is intended to boost local fundraising efforts and help hospitals with their cash flow as they move forward.
